EORI Number Application

If your business moves goods into or out of the UK, you need an EORI number to clear customs. We apply for yours with HMRC — issued within hours — and set up your Customs Declaration Service access.

  • We handle the HMRC form
  • Usually issued in 2 hours
  • Customs access set up
  • Needed to import or export

The number you need to move goods

You cannot import or export goods through UK customs without an EORI number. Getting it wrong or missing a step means goods held at the border. We handle the application end to end.

Import and export ready

An EORI number identifies your business to customs, so your goods can move into and out of the UK.

Issued within 2 hours

A correctly completed application typically returns your EORI number within a couple of hours.

Full HMRC application

We complete and submit the EORI application for you, so nothing is missed.

Customs Declaration Service

We set up your subscription to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), which UK customs declarations run through.

Confirmation document

You receive an EORI confirmation document for your records and your freight forwarder.

No goods held up

With the number in place, your shipments are not stuck at the border for want of an EORI.

Cleared for customs

EORI applied for, CDS set up, confirmation in hand.

Who needs an EORI number

Any business that moves goods into or out of the UK for commercial purposes needs a GB EORI number to make customs declarations. Without one, customs cannot process your shipments and your goods can be held at the border.

If you sell physical products across the UK border — importing stock, exporting to customers, or both — this is a number you need before your first shipment, not after it gets stuck.

  • Required to move commercial goods across the UK border
  • Needed to make or have a customs declaration filed
  • Best obtained before your first shipment

EORI and the Customs Declaration Service

UK customs declarations are made through the Customs Declaration Service (CDS). An EORI number on its own is not enough — you also need to be subscribed to CDS so that declarations can be filed against your business.

We set both up together: the EORI number and the CDS subscription, so you are genuinely ready to trade rather than holding a number that is not yet usable.

  • CDS is where UK customs declarations are made
  • Your EORI is linked to your CDS access
  • Both set up together, ready to use

Businesses that trade goods usually need these too.

EORI number questions

What is an EORI number?

An Economic Operators Registration and Identification (EORI) number identifies your business to customs. Any business moving commercial goods into or out of the UK needs a GB EORI number to make customs declarations.

How quickly will I get it?

For a clean application, HMRC typically issues your EORI number within a couple of hours. We complete the application correctly to keep it in that window.

What is the Customs Declaration Service?

CDS is the system UK customs declarations are made through. An EORI number alone is not enough — you also need CDS access. We set up your CDS subscription alongside your EORI so you are genuinely ready to trade.

Do I need an EORI if I only export?

Yes. You need a GB EORI number to move goods in either direction across the UK border, whether you are importing, exporting, or both.

Do I need to be VAT registered too?

Not necessarily for the EORI itself, but businesses that trade goods often need to be VAT registered as well. We offer VAT registration as a separate service if you need it.
